Had a stellar time at the Choose Virginia Family Medicine Conference. This event provided invaluable opportunities to practice crucial skills such as endometrial biopsies, IUD insertions, POCUS (Point-of-Care Ultrasound), and IV insertions. It’s a refreshing reminder that there is so much more to look forward to beyond the confines of textbooks and lectures!
Stepping away from the traditional classroom setting to focus on patient-centered skills was truly what I needed. Engaging in hands-on training not only revitalized my enthusiasm for medicine but also deepened my understanding of how essential these practical skills are in real-life scenarios. Experiences like these serve as a reminder of the importance of blending theoretical knowledge with practical procedures as I embark on my journey to residency.
